- The TSL2591 brightness sensor is an advanced digital light sensor that is very suitable for use in various lighting conditions.
- Compared with cost-effective CdS batteries, the sensor is more accurate, can perform accurate Lx calculations, and can be configured with different gain/sync ranges to detect the lighting range from 188 Lx to 88,000 Lx during flight.
- The best thing about this sensor is that it contains infrared and full spectrum diodes. This means that the user can measure infrared, full spectrum or human visible light separately.
- Most sensors can only detect one or the other, which cannot accurately represent what the human eye sees (because we cannot detect the infrared light detected by most photodiodes). This sensor is very similar to TSL2561, but has a wider range (and the interface code is different).
- This sensor has a huge dynamic range of 600,000,000: unlike TSL2561, you can't change the I2C address, so be aware of this.
