QUARKZMAN Metric Tap, m21 x 1, Cobalt HSS Tap (Right), Shank Diameter 16 mm, TiCN Coating, Flat Head Tap with Straight Groove M21x1
QUARKZMAN Metric Tap, m21 x 1, Cobalt HSS Tap (Right), Shank Diameter 16 mm, TiCN Coating, Flat Head Tap with Straight Groove
The Cobalt 6542 high speed steel hand tap provides high hardness (67-68HRC), good toughness, wear resistance and excellent cutting performance. The clear threads and universal square shank ensure a precise fit. The TiCN (Dark Silver-Black) coating has higher hardness and better wear resistance than TiN (Gold) coating and is suitable for processing hard to machine materials such as stainless steel, titanium alloy and high temperature alloy. It can effectively resist the problems of chip adhesion and oxidative chipping. The hand tap is a versatile tool that can be used to re-cut damaged or blocked threads or create new threads. It is suitable for thread cutting in through or flat holes in mild steel, aluminium, iron, copper and hard plastic. Straight grooves allow chips to be quickly dissipated downwards while working, allowing efficient tapping and making it a good choice for a range of applications. Ensure proper alignment, use proper tapping technique and apply even pressure when turning the tap to produce clean and precise threads. Reverse regularly during tapping to shred chips and remove deposits from the grooves to avoid clogging and ensure smooth operation. It is recommended to apply a suitable cutting oil or cutting agent during thread cutting to achieve higher quality threads and more durable taps.
Product Features
- Tap size - thread size: M21x1; shank diameter: 16mm / 0.63"; total length: 110mm / 4.33"; square head: 12mm / 0.47"; groove shape: straight groove; cutting direction: right hand thread; type: twist drill.
- Material - By adding 5-8% cobalt to a conventional 6542 high-speed steel twist drill, metric taps with cobalt can have higher hardness (67-68HRC) and precision, better wear resistance and toughness as well as higher heat resistance. The surface is coated with TiCN (Dark Silver-Black), which provides higher hardness and better wear resistance than the TiN (Gold) coating.
- Feature - The main advantages of twist drills are that they can be easily used for through holes, but provide a more complete thread profile than taper drills. The straight grooves allow quick removal of chips downwards for efficient thread cutting.
- Application - The hand tap is a versatile tool that can be used to re-cut damaged or blocked threads or create new threads. It is suitable for thread cutting in through or flat holes in mild steel, aluminium, iron, copper and hard plastic.
- Note - Ensure proper alignment, use the correct thread cutting technique and apply even pressure when you turn the tap to create clean and precise threads. Turn the drill back regularly during cutting to break the chips and remove deposits from the grooves to avoid blockages and ensure smooth operation.
