NooElec SAWbird IR - Premium Dual Ultra-Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) & SAW Filter Module for Iridium and Inmarsat Applications. 1620MHz Center Frequency
PLEASE VISIT THE PRODUCT PAGE ON OUR WEBSITE AT NOOELEC.COM. SAWbird IR is a self-contained LNA module for capturing L-band signals, especially from Iridium and Inmarsat satellites. It has very high attenuation outside the 60MHz bandpass range, centered around 1.620GHz, and a minimum of 20dB gain within the bandpass range. The rated current consumption is only 30 mA. The SAWbird series includes two ultra-low noise LNAs (single housing) arranged around a custom high-performance SAW filter centered on the frequency of interest. Each module offers 3 different power options, but you should only use one option at a time! The recommended power consumption via the SMA output port (for Bias-T-enabled SDRs such as the NESDR SMArTee XTR) is 3V-5V DC. If you do not have a Bias-T enabled SDR, you can alternatively use the external power options via the microUSB port or power input head. The recommended external power supply is 3.3V-5.5V DC. Since the frequency of this device limits the maximum frequency capacity of R820T-based SDRs, we recommend using it in conjunction with the NESDR SMArTee XTR v2, which includes a bias tee that supplies the SAWbird IR module with bias power. It also uses a different tuner IC than other low cost SDRs, which means frequencies are possible well over 2 GHz. A good alternative would be the HackRF - although sold at a much higher price, it also offers many other useful features, such as broadcasting, and can operate up to 6 GHz. Although this module is enough to significantly improve your reception, consider SAWbird+ IR instead if you are using NESDR SMArTee XTR or if your SDR is delivering sufficient current (~180mA) or you are ready to generate power with the external ene
