For full product information, please visit the product page at nooelec.com! SAWbird + GOES is a standalone LNA module designed for capturing beautiful weather images from NOAA GOES satellites. It has very high attenuation outside the 80MHz bandpass range, centered around 1688GHz, and a minimum of 30dB gain within the bandpass range. The rated current consumption is 180 mA. The SAWbird + series includes two ultra-low noise LNAs arranged around a specially designed high-performance SAW filter centered to the desired frequency. Each LNA module has 2 EMI shields to separate each sensitive LNA from external interference. There are also M3 mounting holes to mount the board in your custom enclosure or run a project with standard hardware. Each module offers 3 different power options, but you should only power one option at a time! The recommended power consumption via the SMA output (for bias-T-enabled SDRs such as the NESDR SMArTee XTR) is 3V-5V DC. If you don't have a Bias-T enabled SDR, you can alternatively use the external power options via the microUSB port or the power supply header. The recommended external power supply is 3.3V-5.5V DC. Although the SAWbird has a protection circuit for surge conditions and voltages of up to 12V DC should continue to work and do not damage the device, it is not recommended for long-term use. Please note that damage caused by surge conditions does not occur warranty 1 year. Since the frequency of this device limits the maximum frequency capacity of R820T-based SDRs, we recommend using it in conjunction with the NESDR SMArTee XTR v2, which includes a bias- T-enabled solution.
