Bore distance and rake\nangle are probably the most important as they determine the strike point of\nthe hammer. Please read on and feel free to ask any questions you have,\nproviding the bore distance and rake angle with any inquiries when possible.\nAssortment of 9 upright\/vertical piano hammers, 9 hammer shanks included\n(7\/32\" diameter, 4 3\/4\" long). These will fit many pianos but not all - so\nplease measure to be sure and feel free to ask questions as needed. Hanging a\nfull set of hammers is not impossible but is one of the more challenging\naspects to piano servicing and rebuilding while replacing a few broken hammers\nis certainly within most folks ability. Dimensions and critical measurements\nare as follows: Hammer width - bass: 9.5mm (0.375\"); treble - 10.3mm (0.408\").\nBore distance (tip of felt to center of hole for shank) - bass: 55mm (just\nover 2 1\/8\"); treble: 63.5mm (just under 2 1\/2\") Bore angle - bass: 15\ndegrees throughout bass section; tenor (middle section): varies from 12\ndegrees in the low part of the tenor section gradually to 2 degrees in the\nupper part of the tenor section; treble - 0 degrees throughout. Rake angle -\n4 degrees Assortment includes 3 hammers from the bass section (bored 15\ndegrees bass), 3 from the tenor section (varying from 12 degrees to 2 degrees)\nand 3 from the treble section (bored 0 degrees). Note about bore and rake\nangle. These hammers have a shank hole bored to about 0.234\" which is somewhat\noversize for the 7\/32\" diameter shanks (0.218\").
