As it uses a very narrow light source, it is good for\ndetermining the distance only the surface directly in front of it. Unlike\nsonars that bounce ultrasonic waves, the \"cone\" of sensing is very narrow.\nUnlike IR distance sensors that try to measure the amount of light bounced,\nthe VL53L1X is much more precise and has no linearity problems or\n\"duplication\" where you can't see if an object is very far or very close. This\nis the \"next generation\" of the VL53L0X ToF sensor and can reach about ~30 to\n4000mm range, with a refresh rate of up to 50Hz. If you need an even\nsmaller\/tighter range, check out the VL6180X, which can measure 5mm to 200mm\nand also includes a light sensor. The sensor is small and easy to use in any\nrobotics or interactive project. Since it requires 2.8 V power and logic, we\nput the little fellow human on a breakout board with regulator and level\nshift. You can use it with any 3-5V power or logic microcontroller without\nworry. Works great with the 3.3V logic level of a Feather or Raspberry Pi or\nthe 5V stage of a Metro 328 or Arduino Uno, this breakout is ready to work\nwith most popular microcontrollers or SBCs. And since it speaks I2C, you can\neasily connect it with two data cables plus power and grounding. As if that\nwasn't enough, we've also added SparkFun Qwiic compatible STEMMA QT connectors\nfor the I2C bus so you don't even have to solder. Simply connect to your\nfavorite microphone with a plug and play cable to get ToF data as fast as\npossible. Simply connect to a STEMMA QT adapter cable for a soldering\nexperience.
