The tape is made with special high-tack adhesives formulated\nto resist corrosion of metal piping systems above and below ground, fittings\nand joints on mill-coated pipe, and electrical conduit systems. The pressure-\nsensitive rubber adhesive provides excellent tacking for a bond that lasts.\nThis durable, black PVC tape is a conformable, 10 mil (0.254 mm) thick tape\nwith electrical insulating properties. The tape performs well in many\nindustrial uses, including commercial construction, industrial construction,\nirrigation, maintenance and repair operations, mining, residential\nconstruction, solar, utility, and wind power. For easy application during\nevery electrical maintenance job, choose 3M Scotchrap Vinyl Corrosion\nProtection Tape 50. The Scotchrap Tapes 50 and 51 are easy to apply without\nspecial tools or dangerous flame. However, a few general application\nprocedures should be followed to obtain optimum performance. Surfaces to be\nwrapped should be clean, dry and free of oil, grease, and other contaminants.\nBlast removal of rust and scale is preferred. Welding slag and spatter, sharp\nedges or burrs should be chipped, grinded or filed. Apply a uniform,\ncontinuous coating of the pipe primer to the prepared surface and let dry.\nFill in irregular surfaces with the putty. Cover weld bead with one wrap of\ntape over the entire surface. Straight pipe and conduit are normally spirally\nwrapped using tape width listed in coverage table. Field joints on mill-coated\npipe can be wrapped spirally or with a cigarette wrap or wide tape.
